Head Covering KAREN

Head Covering : Traditionally Karen girls have worn their hair long and tied in a knot on top of the head, although many girls today wear their hair short. Women wear their long hair in a bun at the nape of their necks. Both young women and adults use two styles of head coverings. One is a hand-woven red or white turban with a long fringe. The other is rather like a veil. It is a rectangle of white or pink cloths almost one meter wide, tied around the head and left to hang loose over the shoulders in back. Often a young woman ties a beaded headband with bright-colored pompons around the crown of her head to hold to hold the veil in place.: Traditionally Karen girls have worn their hair long and tied in a knot on top of the head, although many girls today wear their hair short.
